Progress Report (8) - Rohini

Week beginning 19th March

This week we were still working on our interview as we've had some problems. its slow getting the tips done but if we keep at it we'll get it done!

it was late night editing on tuesday... we sorted out the voxpops so they are much faster than before appealing to the TA. i'm glad the vox pops are sorted out now because we were a little unsure of how they would turn out but now i'm pleased with them.

later in the week i uploaded a dvd that CEOP had lent us on to the computer. i took key shots which i thought would be of use to us and then inserted them on to the timeline. once i had all the shots i started work on another of the shots that we got from the ceop centre... where Sarah gives a summary about the computer room. i found some really good shots that linked directly with what sarah was saying. i added them in as cutaways and im happy with the final result.

Sonia and i also got some archive footage. we went to the bbc website and tried to download a news clip of a convicted peadophile that Helen talks about in her interview. you can't download directly from the site and the clip is not availiable on youtube or google... so we were forced to film the screen using our video camera.

i also added names to the interviews. i experimented with the titles until i worked out how to add a translucent box and the ceop logo with the interviewies name next to it in order to create a proffessional look.

the editing room is now like my 2nd home :| argh!

Progress Report (7) - Rohini

Week beginning 13th march:

This week our main focus was the CEOP interview. As we have mentioned before... we wanted the main bits of advice that our expert gives to appear on screen in a typing effect. Unlike on publisher you cant just insert a typing effect. After spending a longgg time experimenting with the software... we worked out that we would have to insert each letter as a title in order for it to work. so we would type 't' ... then..... 'th'.... then ..... 'the'.... . As you can see this took a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy longgg time. we also encountered lots of problems after having typed out a few tips... something went wrong with the font after we rendered the files... so we were forced to start again :|

Kunal and i begun the typing effect and managed to download a typing sound effect. later sonia and i positioned the letters in the Wright place and made the music correspond to it ... which proved to b very tricky and fiddly but was worth it in the end.

i spent a lottt of time working on the interview this week. i also added cutaways in the interview in order to make it more appealing to the audience.

For next week, we plan to get the interview finished and start editing the construction scene.

Progress Report (Week starting 19th March)

This week, we stayed late night Tuesday to get a good load of editing done. We managed to create the top tips by our professional to appear on the screen.. We've also added more cut-aways.. Thats about it really.. We were supposed to do more film on Sunday but I dont know if the other members of the group managed to, because I was at work. Next week, we plan to compile the production together to have the first draft completed.

Progress Report... (week starting 12th March)

This week, we've flew through the interview with the professionals. We've cut out any mishaps and funny faces to gather smart answer!! Now we are just adding in text to reinforce some key words the professional is saying. Next week, we plan to shoot a reconstruction scene and an interview with a victim.. Then edit that, slap the voiceover onto the documentary and 'Bob's your uncle'

Progress Report - Kunal

Week starting 13th March

Well this week, our main focus was the CEOP interview, we arranged where we want all of the bits to go and we were mainly working on how to make a typing effect of the letters. So whatever the expert says, we are going to have it typed up on the screen at the same time. We are nearly finished doing this and is LONGGG but we gotta get it done quick. Also, we have downloaded a sound which adds to the typing theme as it is the sound of a typing keyboard. This will be added into the scenes where the letters show in order to make it look like a professional type up. There has been parts where we had to do alot of it again due to the font but never mind that we sorted it out!! We will also show newspaper clippings and headlines whilst the expert is talking. whilst doing all of this, we are making sure that we do not over do it because we do not want it to look cheap and tacky. but so far all is going gooodd and the interview is nearly finished and is loooking very professional.

Next week we plan to finish off the CEOP interview and then begin the construction scene.

Attainment-1- I think that this module has been quite interesting so i've been able to understand it well.

Effort -1- I feel i have put a good amount of effort in this module by firstly getting classwork and homework done and also by managing to stay awake while watching those documentaries!

Punctuality- 1- Again, Ive always come to lessons on time

Submission and quality of homework -1-This time round, i feel that I have put in a lot of effort in my homework and i've always given it in on time.

Ability to work independently -1- I can work well on my own and don't get distracted too often.

Quality of writing -1- I think i've improved on my quality of writing as i can get my point across easily now rather than waffling on.

Organisation of Media folder-1- All my sheets are still with me and organised in my media folder.

Oral contributions in class -1- I try my best to contribute my ideas to the class as often as i can.

Quality of coursework -1- So far, i feel the written and practical bits of my coursework are of good quality.

Progress Report (week beginning 12th march)

This week, we started editing the CEOP interview and so far it is looking pretty good. When our expert is giving advice, we wanted the advice to appear in a typing effect so after a lot of thinking, the only way we found we could do this was by typing each letter out separately and it is soooo LOOONG! Rohini and Kunal started this and it was continued by me and Kunal on Thursday and then by me after school. Rohini and Kunal also managed to download a typing sound from the net. When me and ro made it correspond to the words on the screen, we finally got the look we wanted and it now looks good. After spending aaaages typing up two of the tips, we decided to change the font which means that we have to do it all over again! GREAT! Rohini also put in the bits that come on the screen during the interview and we both carried on with this Friday after school. Soooo…so far our interview is nearly done.

For next week, we plan to get the interview finished and start editing the construction scene.

Self Assesment - Rohini

Attainment : 1 – I think that I have absorbed what has been taught so far well and am able to successfully apply my knowledge.

Effort : 1 – I think that I put the most amount of effort in to media as it’s sometimes easy to feel lazy as certain work seems a little tedious. As a result, I try to stay motivated and push my self by finishing off all class work and making class contributions.

Punctuality : 1 – I’m always on time to lessons

Submission and quality of homework : 1 – I submit homework on time also I personally feel that I spend a great deal of time and effort on my homework, ensuring that it is of a high standard making a good use of what we’ve learnt in the lesson.

Ability to work independently: 1- I think that I’m able to work well independently which allows me to get on task well. Also, I prefer to work independently as I feel a greater sense of achievement and can push and challenge my self to work harder

Quality of writing: 1 – I feel that I have a good standard of writing and can successfully incorporate relevant media terms into my work.

Standard of Module 3 blog: 1 – I’ve put in a lot of effort in to our blog by not relying on other people to do something first and have made sure that I’ve posted up everything that is required. However, I haven’t bothered with trying to make it look ‘pretty’ (with the exception of just highlighting key words and RELAVENT images) as I believe it’s the quality of work that counts and I could make better use of my time doing research or editing

Progress report (Week beginning 5th March)

This week, we all finally managed to get the montage finished. Although we've been getting some good responses, we still think something looks wrong but because we are so sick of watching it again and again, we've decided to leave it and fix it up at the end. We also started the vox pops and grouped them to make it flow better.

On Saturday, me, Rohini, and Kunal went Ealing to do some more filming. The day started off really bad as we couldn't find anything to film but by luck, we found the woman in charge of Ealing and she said we need permission to film there. Sooo, when we asked mr bush, he said to just film without permission and now we have a nice scene planned out that we will be filming soon. The day got better when we managed to get some good shots of a few internet cafes but the highlight of the day was winning the goody bag because i got to keep the best stuff-the hat and the funky pen!
Also, Rohini filmed some useful shots of newspaper articles.

Sooo, for next week, we plan to get started on editing the Ceop interview.

Progress Report 6 --> Kunal

Week beginning 5th March

This group our whole group worked togethter and managed to finish off the opening montange sequence. we also began splitting up the vox pops where we would split the answers up seperately, just need to sort out the timing a little, which is usually my job :D

On saturday, me rohini and sonia went to ealing to do some more filming, the day started off ok, but then whilst trying to get permission for filming, we met a lady who is in charge of the shopping mall and she told us to call her on tuesday to gain permission, so i took her number down and we will call her in order to complete the filming, this made our day better as this was very crucial for our doc.

We managed to get some really good shots of some internet cafes from the inside and outside, and I as in MEE won the gooody bagg from people from kiss 100 but rohini and sonia stole all the gooodies and left me with jus the bag loll. but i got to eat some nice fooood and the day turned out to be pretty usefull.

Next week we plan to finish sorting out the vox pops and get started on the CEOP interview which me and rohini kinda started on friday p8.

Progress Report 5 --> Kunal

Week Beginning 26th February

As soon as we were introduced to the software and computers in the media suite on wednesday we began capturing our footage onto the computer, then rohini and sonia went to a meeting and i carried on capturing which rohini later finished off later in the week.

Since we had already planned the opening montage, it was then started off which looks really good so far and hope to get it finished asap.

next week we plan on completing the opening montage but we do not want to focus on that too much as we got to start on the vox pops. so hopefully we can get started on that next week aswell.

Progress Report (week starting 26th Feb 07)

Last week, all footage was captured onto the computer. Then this week, the montage was created. Followed by vox pops being cut-up into selected responses so that we can ask the one question and show clips of various responses from different people. This weekend, the rest of the group went to Ealing to film crowds just as a fast-paced scene to go in-between the end of the montage and beginning of the vox-pops. I have not yet spoken to the group, but I don't think the group actually did film the crowds, but I could be wrong. We'll just see on Monday!

Progress Report (6)

Week beginning 5/3/07

This week Dot Com group finished off the opening montage sequence. Finnally. (i still think a little needs changing tho)...
Also got stuck in to the vox pops... split them in to different questions... they just need a little brushing up now..

On Saturday... me, Sonia and Kunal went to Ealing to do some filming. Day started off rubbish... we weren't having much luck filming at alllll. By chance we bumped in to a lady who is in charge of the ealing shopping centre... she told us to ring her on Tuesday in order to get permission to film their. So not everything was a waste of time.

Also we got some really good shots of a few Internet cafes.... and we got a 3G Goody bag!! lol

i also did some extra filming at home.

Plan for next week: Finish off vox pops... and get started on the CEOP interview....

Progress Report for the week beginning 26th Feb

On wednesday when we started editing, we all began capturing the footage on to the computer then when me and Ro went to the magazine meeting, Kunal continued to capture the footage. On Thursday, Rohini finished the capturing in her frees and began editing afterschool. Then on Friday, me and Rohini did some more editing during p2 and break whare we split the internet scenes for our opening montage into seperate shots. On Monday, I continued with it in the morning and during period 1 and was later joined by Rohini. We both then stayed till the end of period 3 and began to put the internet shots corresponding to the music by pacing them up. So... so far we have done most of our opening montage (-which is the hardest bit) and it is looking pretty good!. By next week, we plan to get the montage finished and getting started on the rest of the footage.

Week beginning: 26th feb

- Uploaded all our footage. started during our last media lesson on the production as a group. then kunal carried on for a bit after school. i uploaded the remaining 1 1/2 tape during my frees 7 and 8. then started to edit during the after school session.

- did more editing for our opening montage (nearly done).

Next week finish off montage and proceed with the rest of editing ( prioritize the interview with ceop expert).

- Personally i think that I've worked really hard on editing so far and have put in A LOT of effort ! AHEMMM !
