Progress Report

So far, we have had two shootings where we have firstly shot the opening montage to our documentary consisting of lots of quick shots of the social networking sites:My Space, Hi5, and You Tube. When edited, these shots will be cut in order to correspond to our opening song 'Dash dot Com' and give the documentary a loud and young appeal through an MTV style. We have also taken shots of the the keyboard and the google search bar in order to link to the title,'DotCom'. For this session, we had also planned to try to arrange a meeting with an expert but then decided to postpone this until further footage is taken and we have a concrete plan for our documentary. For this shooting, me and Rohini both took equal responsibilty of the recording and were both incccccredibly tired in the end!

The next shooting took place on 31st Jan when we filmed our vox pops. The idea was to get comments about social networking sites from both adults and teenagers in order to show the contrast and emphasise how unaware teenagers are of the dangers. However due to shortage of time and the fact that the students were all in lessons at the time, we were unable to interview any teeagers and decided to film this another time, either after school or in Ealing. Nonetheless, we managed to get some good comments from 6 adults. We decided to shot in locations that were familiar to our audience e.g. outside In and Out and people the audience knows such as the man that works in Harry's Fish and Chip Bar. For this session, I had done the filming, and Rohini, Nikki(who also got the consent forms signed) and Kunal had interviewed the adults.
On wednesday, we also manged to find our expert:The school's policeman but we still have to arrange an exact date to meet and interview him.

Week Starting- 29th Jan

We planned to film a construction scene in Ealing Broadway Centre. This would require us to use the camera and tripod to produce desired shots, such as panning-shots.

However, we changed this plan as we thought it would be more beneficial to record interviews, as we felt it gives us a firm base & allows us to base the documentary around public opinions. We completed all interviews needed for a vox-pop. We decided to use the school policeman as the expert for advice.

As already mentioned, what we achieved this week was different from what was planned, but none-the-less still positive, as we needed to get the vox-pops done soon. The reason of things being different is because we felt we can provide ourselves with a better foundation for the documentary creation.
